\u00e9 extremamente \u00fatil na preven\u00e7\u00e3o do c\u00e2ncer de colo do \u00fatero, tamb\u00e9m chamado de c\u00e2ncer cervical. Al\u00e9m de detectar algumas infec\u00e7\u00f5es por v\u00edrus e fungos como exemplo: herpes, verrugas genitais e Candida albicans.\nEm mulheres sexualmente ativas, o exame deve ser feito ao menos uma vez ao ano. Ap\u00f3s os 65 anos, se os resultados anteriores n\u00e3o derem positivo, pode ser que seu m\u00e9dico passe a n\u00e3o mais solicitar esse exame.
